Wait, it doesn't get you "high"?
NOPE!
CBD is the non "high" of cannabis. Some of the language surrounding this experience, or lack thereof rather, can be confusing. Not psychotropic, psychedelic or psychoactive, not hallucinogenic, it's not...trippy, it doesn't mess with your mind, and so on. To clarify, CBD does not create the same mental sensations as its cannabinoid cousin THC, found in cannabis and known to create the "high" sensation. Rather, it interacts with the same receptors in our bodies in different ways, creating a balance, rather than different sensations. |
We know what the extracts "look like" but what about the plant?
Let's take a look at the source.
When we are shopping for CBD products we see a whole host of forms, from full plant flower to tinctures and sublinguals to resins and extracts in gum and shatter form and more. (MORE on forms in CBD for Dummies).
These products are either the plant itself: flower, or they are extracted from parts of the plant. These parts are identified in products as: Full-Spectrum - containing all of the plant Broad-Spectrum - containing all but a moleculte or two, generally THC-Free Distillate - containing some of the molecules Isolate - containing only the CBD molecule What is important for you to differentiate when you are buying CBD is that it is only found in the flower, leaves, stalk and stem of the plant. Products made from the seed of the plant DO NOT have CBD unless it is added to the product in manufacturing. |
